You & I Are Earth (since2020)

The selection comes from an ongoing project titled ‘Becoming’, which started in 2017 in collaboration with my husband Keven Erickson. The series offers a visual reflection on the intimate relationship between two photographers and life partners.

In 2020, our daughter was born. Naturally, my focus first shifted to her, then to myself and my husband, witnessing our transformation, and finally to the space between the three of us. The process of ‘becoming’ accelerated, leaving no room for reflection. I felt everything much more deeply; each emotion took over like a storm. At the height of my postnatal baby blues, I grabbed my camera and took a self-portrait. It was as if it were a remedy, a thin thread holding me connected to who I was, while simultaneously leading me towards my new identity as a mother. What I thought would be my last ever image became the first in a series. Since then, I have been navigating the balance between my roles as a partner and a mother. It’s like the large abstract wallpapers presented upstairs, where two powerful energies swirl together, creating and sustaining life.
